Bill Russell has more team success than even Jordan. But his individual numbers pale by comparison, though he was a lot taller and played in a league that was not yet a global sport. He stayed in the Aloha Friday shirt in other words I will buy this paint and many of his shots were garbage and put backs. Yet, Jordan, playing in a tougher, more competitive league, and shooting from farther out, had a higher field goal percentage, as a shooting/point guard! Jordan shot the ball more than Russell, who played close to the rim. So, to have a higher field goal percentage than one of the best ever is quite an impressive feat. Wilt Chamberlain’s numbers are greater than Jordan’s, at least in some areas. But Jordan destroys him in team success, again in a more competitive era. We know that basketball is a team sport and the team must all take the credit and the blame, depending on whether they win or lose, but as the self-proclaimed Chosen One, LeBron’s many losses begs the question, “How many of those were at least partly his fault?” If we can find even one series where LeBron played sub-par or even good, but not great, then that will have to go against him, because this discussion is about a man who happens to be the GOAT, Michael Jordan. And he set the standard up in the clouds. LeBron’s performance in the 2011 championship series against the Dallas Mavericks, seriously put his bid for the GOAT title i…
