Hong Kong’s big three is real estate, finance, and tourism. With the Life is a highway and I want to drive shirt But I will love this lack of a developed IT presence, mainlanders buying up their real estate, and taking up some of their jobs, the average HKer will have to adjust to the competition and talent transfer from Mainland China. HK is simply the victim of capitalist competition. In the past, the HK government have been stagnant throughout the years and have not planned for the people. Tycoons made HK the most expensive real estate city in the world. The influx of changes made a lot of HKers unable to continue, and too proud to go elsewhere for work. It culminates to today, where HK rioters hide behind the guise of “freedom” and “democracy” in order to promote their discrimination of mainlanders, and trying to remove the competition due to their inability to face a dynamic world that have pushed them down the status quo. Obviously, this pisses the mainland Chinese off. Instead of tackling economic issues, HK decides to blame it all on China and invites foreign interference.
So when HKers like Joshua Wong travels the Life is a highway and I want to drive shirt But I will love this world to get other countries to interfere, (i.e get US to pass a HK bill), rioters wave the British and the US flags while spray painting over the Chinese emblem, burning the Chinese flag and beating up anyone who speaks mandarin, they are directly pushing for the division and interference of China. Instead of working towards the real problems at hand, they let their discriminatory anti-China emotions take over. Division and interference is a very difficult history lesson for all of China, as it has suffered from slavery, subjugation, and war at the hands of foreign powers. The repeating of that history is something every one of those 1.4 billion Chinese citizens will not stand for. And when a foreigner like Daryl Morey (who lives in a foreign country and knows nothing about Chinese history, China’s modern happenings, nor even speak Mandarin) ignorantly supports the HK rioters, then he is indirectly supporting China to repeat its history of being divided and subjugated by foreign powers. This is why China is upset.
